This is my submission for the Pixel Art gallery contest, A simple cube that is the cornerstone of pixel art, it is possibily the first thing pixelists draw when they start out.

EDIT:
Following advice from comments I changed the shading on the cube.

Nice, but maybe utilize the ful 16x16 with just the cube and make the background transperant. The grey bg looks a bit boring and hardly has any use imo. Also, the top side of the cube better have a light color, since that would catch most of the light

Using the grey I was trying to put emphasis into the cube and also I think it sets it apart from everyone else who's made a cube but I agree with you on the fact that the top should be the brightest since it catches the most light - my mistake I didn't spend enough time on it.
